Because my friends and I get bored. Fast.
My friends and I get bored of games really fast. Either we play them too much, or we run out of stuff to do way too quickly. Then it’s back to hunting for the next game.
So I wanted a game where someone is in control and can add new stuff on the go. When somebody gets an idea, or wants a new game mode, we don’t have to go looking for a new game. We can just look into adding it.
Got an idea? It might end up in the game.
That goes for you too. If you play and think “this game needs a ___”, tell me.
This is not a professionally made game
Seriously. This game was made for fun by one unicorn who has absolutely no clue what they’re doing.
I’m learning as I go, clicking buttons, breaking things, fixing things, and occasionally wondering how something even worked in the first place.
Some things might look amazing. Other things might look like they belong in a game from 20 years ago. Textures won’t always match, models might look completely out of place, and some things might make you ask:
“Bow… what the heck is THAT?”
Meh. It works. Probably.
Please don’t be too harsh on the game. It’s just a fun little project that I hope brings people some laughter, entertainment, and maybe a few moments of complete confusion.
489 zones. Before saving existed.
The first version of this game had an almost infinite world. I unlocked 489 zones while testing it. Before the game had a save system. Knowing that closing the game would erase everything.
Was it worth it?
Meh.
This time it’s a little different: 60 zones, five areas, ten bosses and an actual story. Fewer zones, but a lot more zombies. And yes, it saves.
If enough of you miss the old pain, I might still make it its own game mode: Bow’s Meh Survival: One Life, One Session, Unlimited Regret.
There’s a market! Sort of.
Mehville has a market where you can buy and sell your loot. It will keep changing as I build the game.
Will the economy be perfectly balanced?
Probably not.
Will somebody find a way to become ridiculously rich?
Knowing my luck, absolutely.
I found an XP and money glitch while testing the first version. But don’t worry! I FIXED IT! …I think.
Updates may break things. You’ve been warned.
As I add new features, I absolutely cannot promise I won’t accidentally break something else. I might fix a door and somehow break a tree. I might add a new building and suddenly your house decides it doesn’t believe in gravity.
I once said that when I add zombies, don’t be surprised to see one floating through the sky. Well. There are zombies now. Lots of them.
Is that floating zombie a bug?
Probably.
Is it going to stay there until I figure out what happened?
Also probably.
Welcome to game development with Bow!
Please break my game!
Seriously. I encourage it.
- Try to escape the map
- Find weird glitches
- Build something ridiculous
- Get unlimited money
- Make a zombie do something it shouldn’t
- Do things I never considered
If you make videos, stream the game or upload funny clips, I’d love to watch them. Seeing what people do might inspire new features, mechanics and other questionable ideas. Your ridiculous discovery might become an actual feature.
A game that will keep changing
This is an ongoing personal project, and I have plenty of ideas. Some will add cool new features. Some will improve existing systems. Some will fix bugs. And some will accidentally create five more bugs while fixing one.
I make absolutely no promises that something working today will still work after the next update. The roadmap shows what’s coming.
It’s not perfect. It’s probably broken. And honestly… Meh! 🦄
I’m not a professional game developer. I’m not a giant game studio. I’m just one unicorn making a game for fun, learning along the way, and hoping other people enjoy the chaos.
So please, don’t take everything too seriously. Clear a zone. Build a ridiculous house. Break the economy. Find a floating zombie. Or just stand there wondering why something looks the way it does.
If this game makes you laugh, smile, or say “What the heck just happened?”, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
